French designer Mathieu Lehanneur created a local river, which separates the freshwater fish and grow vegetables in the same time. Vegetables growing in floating pots would help purify water by removing nitrates and other minerals. The concept will be presented at Artists Space Gallery in New York April 25 to June 21, 2008.
The plants extract nutrients from the water. At the same time they act as a natural filter that purifies the water and supports life balance to the ecosystem in which fish live. A local river is responsible for the daily needs of food. It relies on the return to favor of farm (trout, eel, carp, and m. Dr....), given dwindling supplies of many marine species due to the depletion of fish stocks. It also demonstrates the ability of fish - farmers to deliver live fish to the private consumer guarantee the freshness of the goods - it is not possible with marine fish.
